I was surfing the web the other day and found this article from TheFrisky.com. It contained statistics from weddings in 2010, some of which I thought were rather interesting.
TheKnot.com conducted a survey of over 21,000 brides and grooms and combined all of the information into a one-page report. I have included 10 of these for your reading pleasure. I’d love to know what you think of them, leave me a comment!
1. The average budget for a wedding and ceremony is $28,385, which is actually down 5% from 2009!
2. Of the 10,000 weddings last year, only 20% were formal or black tie.
3. Fifty percent of the wedding colors were jewel tones.
4. The average engagement ring cost $5,847!
5. Fifteen percent of the receptions had a signature drink.
6. Most brides had some Do-It-Yourself element to their wedding.
7. Evidently weddings in Iowa and Nebraska were the biggest, averaging 200 guests. (who knew?)
8. The average number of brides maids that the bride forced to wear a dress they hated was 5.
9. Only 19% of brides hired a wedding planner.
10. On average, the parents of the bride will usually pay for 46% of the wedding, the bride and groom will pay for 40% of the wedding, leaving the groom’s parents to pay 12% of the wedding.
