This past September Austin and Travis, my nephews and twin brothers, turned 3! Even though they are twins, they are totally different in most ways.
Austin, for some reason, got totally camera shy when we first started. He wouldn’t hardly look at me and I really had to work to get some smiles out of this kid. Once he got over whatever was bugging him, we really had a good time. Austin is one of those naturally coordinated kids and he has the best little kid laugh once you get him going.
Travis, was a little show off for me. He did pretty much everything I asked him to do and always had a smile for me. He’s a sweet kid and you can tell he’s a thinker.
Photographing these two since they were born has been so much fun. Every year when we take their pictures, it’s always fun to go back and see just how much they have changed. For some reason, they both ended up with scrapes on their foreheads, so I guess they might be more alike than I first thought.
The lighting was nearly perfect when we first started and quickly went down into the trees. I always enjoy photographing right before sunset because it makes for such pretty lighting. As far as clothing for boys, a good pair of jeans, boots and collared shirt, and we’re ready to go. Bright colors always photograph the best, but obviously pick a color that coordinates well with their skin tone.
