The Smith family was a delight to take family portraits for a Falls Park in downtown Greenville. Their little girl is about a month younger than my son and it made their session just so much sweeter knowing we had kids close in age.
Both Shawn and Claire are from Las Vegas, NV, but have moved to Greenville so Shawn can attend medical school. Since their stay in Greenville will more than likely only be a few years before moving on to another city, both Shawn and Claire wanted something iconic Greenville for their family portraits. Downtown Greenville offers so many quaint little places for unique family portraits, but nothing stands out more as being iconic of Greenville than the suspension bridge and Falls Park.
With photographing young children I like to keep the portrait session moving. It helps to keep them engaged and since we move around a lot, they don’t get bored as we are always in a new location. This was perfect for the Smith family and we were able to create a lot of different looks in a short amount of time without having to travel all over downtown.
Prior to their session, I talked with Shawn about outfits and what looks good; I made a suggestion on how to dress their little girl when traveling to the session, and got a feel for what they wanted out of the portrait session.
Once their pictures were edited, we met back up and Shawn and Claire were able to view their proofs in person and see the other products I offer. I believe viewing and handling the proofs in person really gives a feel for how professional pictures will look and helps clients envision what other products might look good in their home. I always guide clients through this process and based on previous discussions, I have a good sense of the type of products they want to invest in.
These are a few of my favorite from our Falls Park downtown Greenville portrait session. I had a great time photographing the Smiths; they were up for anything and were so fun to work with!
