Several weeks ago, Kristy Kaliope Photography and I got together and practiced some posing on each other. It was a ton of fun and we both got some new headshots out of the deal. While on that photoshoot, we began to brainstorm about our next practice session and what we could work on. I came across a blog from Katelyn James and her evolution of posing. In that particular blog post, she discusses her posing flow when limited on space or time. I thought it would be perfect and exactly what we needed to work on.
So often when I’m out on a shoot, I run out of poses, so we head to a different background and do the same poses as before. Katelyn’s blog used one location and just moved her subjects slightly to give a completely different picture. I felt like this idea would be a good challenge for us and force us to stay in one location, only switching up the posing.
Our subjects were the beautiful Lauren and Joe, who are engaged and getting married in May. In exchange for their patience and time, we gave them the images from our session. They were great subjects and so easy to pose! Most of the time Joe just naturally posed himself and Lauren was just gorgeous, no matter how she stood. Next time we’ll have to find someone who isn’t quite so good at making our job easy! Thank you both for allowing us to practice on you guys!
Here’s a few of my favorites from the session.
