One of my favorite type of sessions to photograph are mother and me portraits. I love capturing the bond between a mother and her child or children. Each child has a unique story and personality and being able to see how each child interacts with his or her mother is remarkable.
I had asked a friend if I could photograph her and her two little girls, I was needing to brush up on some techniques and I was also renting a lens that I wanted to try out.
She was very gracious in agreeing to allow me to play a bit with the new lens and photograph her girls.
We met at a local barn and field that I’ve used several times before. I decided on this location, because I was familiar with it. I didn’t want to photograph at a new location where I had to think about backgrounds and lighting in addition to posing. That wasn’t my goal. I wanted to work on my posing, so not having to think about an unfamiliar are worked in my favor.
I love the outfits Alma chose! We went back and forth on a couple, but I really like the colors she came up with!
The girls were so easy to work with, despite being late for their schedule. Here are my favorites from this mother and me session!
