Now that Christmas is past and you’ve got that shiny new bling on your left hand, the madness begins with planning a wedding. Where on earth do you start?
I have your answer.
While I haven’t officially met Saskia Kalmeijer, I am a fan of her work. We met online through a mutual photographer friend of ours, Jenna Marie Photography, and I’m impressed with what I’ve seen thus far. Now that I have shot a couple weddings, I have seen some that were planned and coordinated with wedding planners and some without. I’ve also experienced excellent planners and some planners who shouldn’t give up their day job just yet.
With that being said, I asked Saskia to write, in her own words, what perhaps the benefits or reasons would be to hire a put-together wedding coordinator.
Why Hire a Wedding Coordinator?
So, you said “yes”…what is next? While you just recently got engaged, it is time to start planning your big day. You’ll probably start browsing through wedding magazines, your friends wedding albums and many wedding websites before you start to feel overwhelmed with checklists and overflowing with decisions. That is when you and your fiancee might want to think about hiring a professional wedding coordinator to help you plan your dream wedding from the beginning until the end.
As couples start to think about their wedding they often get confused about their budget, choosing the perfect vendors, finding the amazing DJ/Band who will keep the guests entertained, where to find an in-town calligrapher, etc. There is no need to worry about the overall concept of planning a wedding as well as the minor details you might come up with throughout the months. A wedding planner is there to help you and will be able to guide you and your fiancee the entire planning process.
A wedding planner was only known to be a luxury for the wealthy, however, now a coordinator is essential to plan the perfect stress free day. It is no longer “trendy” to engage a wedding coordinator but an option to anyone that might need help planning and coordinating their event. In the end, the wedding professional will be able to negotiate contracts with vendors and save valuable time and money. The coordinator can take advantage of discounts not available to brides planning the wedding themselves and avoid any costly mistakes that may ruin your dream day. Brides often do not realize the many mistakes that may have arisen until they have gone to far and will only cause more problems without costly damage.
The average wedding can take more than two-hundred hours to plan. Planning a wedding becomes a full time job which many brides do not realize immediately. Therefore it is very important that you think ahead and hire a wedding coordinator who will be there to help you and assist you throughout the planning process for you to be able to enjoy every minute up until the wedding day itself. In the end you will be able to enjoy your wedding day, mingle with your guests and have the best night of your life. A wedding coordinator is there from the very beginning until the end of your wedding to ensure than no details are missed and that you find yourself with the wedding you have always envisioned.
Wedding coordinators are not there to make the decisions for you, but are there to guide you and your fiancee into making the best decisions. With their training, knowledge and experience they will turn your dreams and expectations into reality.
