I recently purchased the latest edition of The Knot wedding magazine and came across an interesting article on questions to ask your potential wedding photographer. There are so many different elements to think about when hiring a wedding photographer. Of course the main reason most brides hire wedding photographers is because she likes the photographer’s work. Great looking pictures are only part of the equation. Granted, you do want fabulous pictures, but at what price would you be willing to sacrifice to get them?
Not everyone can afford to have the Jasmine Star‘s and David Jay‘s of the photography world to photograph their wedding. Although, I must say, it wish I had the budget for it when I got married!
Whatever your budget for your wedding photography is, below is a list of questions that might be worth the time to ask any potential wedding photographers you are interested in.
- Do you have an album I can through?
- How many weddings do you shoot a year?
- How long have you been in the business?
- Will you be photographing the wedding solo or will there be more than one photographer?
- What’s your backup plan in case of equipment failure or if you get sick?
- What are your options regarding packages?
- Does the price include an engagement shoot?
- What’s the process after the wedding?
- Will I get the digital files?
- How long before the files are available to me?
- How much do prints cost?
- How much do albums cost?
- What’s the turnaround for proofs and the final albums?
- What sort of touch-ups do you do?
- Do you offer mini albums?
- Do you offer online proofing albums so that my guests can buy prints without going through me?
- What’s the payment policy?
- Will there be additional fees for travel and lodging?
- Is there a cancellation policy?
