You may recall several weeks ago I put out a request for willing participants to model for me. I am wanting to improve my posing and shooting and by doing a model call I am able to work on it and provide my models with some great images.
This family was the first family to work with me on my model call. They were in the Greenville area to watch the eclipse and it totally worked out for me to photograph them while they were in town. Coming from Florida, I think they were excited about a change in scenery and I was looking forward to working with them.
I loved from the beginning that Kelly communicated with me very well. Being so far away and not knowing me, she was great at keeping me in the loop on their outfits. We texted back and forth several times and even had a shared Pinterest board to bounce ideas off one another. Kelly made the process easy for me and I think she’s spoiled me for future model clients.
I knew I wanted a field or barn or something country for this particular model call. I also knew I wanted Kelly to wear a long, flowy dress and one or more of the boys to wear suspenders. I just love suspenders on the little guys! I had suggested her little girl wear a dress as well and I really liked how the outfits came together for this session.
Photographing families with little children can be challenging. Little people have shorter attention spans and I need to work quickly and efficiently to get the portraits taken before I lose their interest. These little guys did great with a total stranger sticking a camera in their face and making weird noises. In hindsight I wish I was better prepared for the poses, but that’s the exact reason why I was photographing this model call, to improve my posing and branch out a little bit.
These are my favorite images from my family model call. If you are interested in possibly applying for future opportunities, please submit a request through the contact portion of my website.
